"Finding the Will of God" - EVENING SERVICE 10282018

On Sunday nights I preach a sermon that is a good follow up to what we learned in Sunday School earlier in the day.  Our current Sunday School unit is titled “How to Pray.”  Each session of the Sunday School will look at a portion of the Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6.  This week we looked at the third line of the prayer (verse 10), “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” and focused on humbly submitting to the will of God.  On Sunday evening I felt led to focus on finding the will of God.  I mean, who does not want to know what God’s will and plans are for their lives?  But you might be asking yourself, “How can anyone find God’s will?”  Well, Paul tells the Christian’s in Rome that it is possible to “prove what the will of God is.”  In studying Romans 12:1-2 we can find out that it is possible to figure out what God’s will is for our lives.

"Who is Worthy?" - MORNING SERVICE 10282018

Sunday morning we asked ourselves the question, “Who is worthy of the compassion of Christ?”  In the story of the centurion and his dying slave and the widow from Nain and her dead son we learned that all are worthy of Jesus’ compassion.  It doesn’t matter who you are (race, ethnicity, gender, age, etc.) or what you have done (sin wise) because Jesus loves all of us no matter what.  All that is left for you to do is embrace the amazing grace of Jesus Christ?  Do you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior?  Are you 100% sure you will go to heaven when you die?  Now is your time, turn your life over to Jesus today!

"A Sacrifice of Praise" - EVENING SERVICE 10212018

On Sunday nights I preach a sermon that is a good follow up to what we learned in Sunday School earlier in the day.  Our current Sunday School unit is titled “How to Pray.”  Each session of the Sunday School will look at a portion of the Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6.  This week we looked at the second line of the prayer, “Hallowed be Your name” and focused on including praise in our prayers.  So frequently we focus our prayers on supplication (asking God for stuff) and forget to send praise to God.  God calls us to make sacrifices of praise to Him; which is what I focused on Sunday night.  This Sunday evening, we looked at Hebrews 13:15-16 and how we can make a sacrifice of praise to God.

"A Firm Foundation" - MORNING SERVICE 10212018

On Sunday, October 21, 2018, we finished off Luke 6 and Luke’s account of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.  I asked my congregation two questions; (1) Where’s Your Fruit? & (2) Where’s Your Foundation?  The Holy Spirit is within each Christian.  Because of the Spirit’s influence on our lives, Christian’s produce good fruit (the Fruit of the Spirit).  Someone who is not saved (not a Christian) is unable to produce good fruit because God is not in them.  If God is in a Christian, then that Christian is founded on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and will produce good fruit.  If someone is not a Christian, then they are not founded on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and will NOT produce good fruit (they will only produce bad fruit).  Someone who is not founded on Jesus Christ is on the pathway to destruction and an eternity in hell.  THE POINT: Make sure you are producing good fruit and that your life is founded on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.

"Adjust Your Focus" - EVENING SERVICE 10142018

A couple weeks ago I finished the series were have been in for the past six months about the Promises of God.  This week we begin a “series” (if you want to call it that) that will take a deeper look at each weeks Sunday School lesson from earlier in the day.  For the next seven weeks, in Sunday School, we will be talking about prayer and answering the disciple’s question: “How do we Pray?”  Each session of the Sunday School will look at a portion of the Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6.  This week we looked at the very first line of the prayer, “Our Father in heaven.”  We focused on figuring out Who the Object of our prayers is.  We pray to God but Who is God?  It is important to understand the attributes and characteristics of our father in heaven.  Last night we continued this thought by talking about focusing ourselves on the Object of our prayers.  We looked at a prayer that the early Christians made in Acts 4:23-31 following the safe release of Peter and John (who were arrested for preaching in the name of Jesus.)  In this prayer we can find three attributes or characteristics of God; the Object of our prayers.

"Judge Others Like Jesus: With Mercy" - MORNING SERVICE 10142018

Too many people “judge a book by it’s cover”.  Why do so many people think that they are better than others, judging other people, yet they are just as bad?  Did you know that in judging another you turn the light on that opens the door for others to judge you?  If you set the standard for another person, you need to live by that same standard.  My point is that we need to look at ourselves before we start judging other people.  This is exactly what Jesus talked about, during His sermon on the mount, in Luke 6.  Before a Christian “judges” or examines another person (Christian or not) they need to recognize that (1) their judgment well be returned upon them, (2) make sure they are fully trained (emulating Jesus and trained in the Word of God) and (3) examine themselves.  AND, when we do judge another person, we need to do so like Jesus; with mercy.

"Love Your Enemies" - MORNING SERVICE 10072018

It is easy to love someone who loves you or someone who has never done you any harm.  It is much harder to love someone who hates you.  Yet, Jesus tells us to do so.  In my sermon this Sunday Morning we looked at what Jesus had to say about loving our enemies and, in doing so, I asked my congregations three questions.  Check it out!

"God's Promise of His Unbreakable Love" - EVENING SERVICE 09302018

On Sunday nights we have been talking about the promises of God.  This Sunday evening we talked about how the bound of love between a Christian and the Lord will never be broken.  BOTTOM LINE: Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  For me this is super encouraging because life sometimes gets the best of us.  We all face trials and hardships in life and these difficulties often drop us to the ground.  Yet, despite the tribulations in life, we can be assured that God still loves us.  Remember that when life gets the best of you.

"Blessings & Woes" - MORNING SERVICE 09302018

Ever see a warning sign or label that just didn’t make sense?  Nowadays it seems like everything is labeled with a warning to stop people from misusing the item.  Most of the time a warning (whether verbal or written) should be listened too; this is especially true when it comes to a warning from Jesus.  In Luke 6:17-26 we read about four blessings and four woes that Jesus gave to those gathered to hear Him preach His sermon on the mount.  Followers of Christ are blessed for giving up everything to follow Him.  Those who refuse to follow Christ, who refuse to give up anything, are warned of the coming judgment.  Where does God line up on your list of priorities?  He NEEDS to be number one!
