A couple weeks ago I finished the series were have
been in for the past six months about the Promises of God. This week we begin a “series” (if you want to
call it that) that will take a deeper look at each weeks Sunday School lesson
from earlier in the day. For the next
seven weeks, in Sunday School, we will be talking about prayer and answering
the disciple’s question: “How do we Pray?”
Each session of the Sunday School will look at a portion of the Lord’s
Prayer from Matthew 6. This week we
looked at the very first line of the prayer, “Our Father in heaven.” We focused on figuring out Who the Object of
our prayers is. We pray to God but Who
is God? It is important to understand
the attributes and characteristics of our father in heaven. Last night we continued this thought by
talking about focusing ourselves on the Object of our prayers. We looked at a prayer that the early Christians
made in Acts 4:23-31 following the
safe release of Peter and John (who were arrested for preaching in the name of
Jesus.) In this prayer we can find three
attributes or characteristics of God; the Object of our prayers.
