On Sunday nights I have been
preaching through a series titled "The Promises of God." Last week I began another “series within a
series” that will focus on “God’s Promise to Reward His Saints.” During this series we are going to look at
the five possible crowns that Christians can receive at the “Judgment Seat of
Christ.” The third crown, in scriptural
order, comes from 2 Timothy 4:6-8 and
is called “The Crown of Righteousness.”
This passage of scripture is very powerful because Paul wrote it from
his prison cell in expectation of his imminent execution. Paul tells Timothy, and through him Christians
today, that he has earned the Crown of Righteousness based on the righteous
work he performed following his salvation.
Christians today can earn this crown as well.
